Skincare Roundup: 18 DIY Face Masks For Every Skin Type

I'm Krista, Owner + Creative behind our business.  While we don't currently carry any masks, I wanted to give you some great natural alternatives that won't break the bank, and at the same time help your specific skin needs.  Enjoy! 

Tips:

  • Pull your hair back in a pony tail or secure with a hair clip to prevent from getting mask on your hair.  Don't worry, we're working on hair mask recipes as we speak! 
  • Apply these masks while leaning over your bathroom sink or over a towel to avoid making a sticky mess.
  • Use a pop sickle stick, spoon, makeup brush, or your fingers to apply these masks.  Use what works for you! 

Dry Skin

Coconut + Honey (Control Acne Breakouts)

What You'll Need:

- 2 Tbsp Coconut Oil

- 1/4 Cup Honey

- 1-2 Drops Lavender Oil (Optional)

Directions:

1. Combine all ingredients - mix well.

2. Apply to face using a spoon, finger, wooden popsicle stick, makeup brush, whatever works!

3. Leave on for 15-20 minutes.

4. Rinse with warm water + pat dry. 

Follow with a serum to lock in moisture.

 

Oat + Milk + Honey (Treats Red, Itchy Skin)

What You'll Need:

- 2 Tbsp Oatmeal Powder

- 2 Tbsp Honey

- 2 Tbsp Milk Powder

Directions: 

1. Combine oatmeal powder + milk powder + mix.

2. Stir in honey.

3. Mix well + apply to face.

Use up to 4 times a week to heal + repair dry skin!

 

Egg + Olive Oil + Banana (Nourish + Hydrate)

What You'll Need:

-1 Tbsp Olive Oil

- 1 Egg Yolk

- 1/2 Banana

Directions:

1. Separate egg yolk from egg white.

2. Peel + mash banana.

3. Add egg yolk to banana mixture.

4. Mix in olive oil + apply to skin.

Leave on for 10-15 minutes + rinse.

Oily Skin

Banana + Honey (Remove Shine)

What You'll Need:

- 1 Ripe Banana

- 2 Tbsp Honey

- 1 Tbsp Orange Juice (Optional)

Directions:

1. Mash banana.

2. Add honey + mix well.

3. Squeeze 2 Tbsp orange juice into mixture (optional).

4. Rinse face with lukewarm water + massage into t-zone.

5. Leave on for 20 minutes + rinse with warm water.

Aloe + Cucumber (Hydrate)

What You'll Need:

- 1/2 Cucumber

- 2 Tbsp Aloe Vera

Directions:

1. Cut cucumber into slices.

2. Place slices into blender + mix until watery.

3. Add 2 Tbsp aloe vera to blender + blend until smooth.

4. Massage paste onto face + leave on for 30 minutes.

5. Rinse with cool water + pat dry.

Grape + Flour (Exfoliate)

What You'll Need:

- 12 Grapes

- 1 Tsp Flour

Directions:

1. Mash grapes in a mixing bowl (I used a fork).

2. Sprinkle 1 Tsp flour + mix well.

3. Apply mask to face + let sit for 15 minutes.

4. Rinse mask away with warm water + pat dry.

Combination Skin

Egg White + Yogurt (Controls Oil + Shrinks Pores)

What You'll Need:

- 1 Egg White

- 1 Tbsp Yogurt

Directions:

1. Combine ingredients in a small bowl.

2. Apply to the face + leave on for 10-15 minutes.

3. Rinse with warm water + splash with cold water once all of the mask is removed to close the pores.

Remember to use plain, unsweetened yogurt for this mask - we want plain + boring to give your skin the most benefits.

 

Avocado + Coconut Oil + Tea Tree Oil (Acne Control)

What You'll Need:

- 1/4 Ripe Avovado

- 1 Tbsp Coconut Oil

- 1-2 Drops Tea Tree Oil (Optional)

Directions:

1. Mash a peeled avocado in a bowl until you have a lump free paste.

2. Stir in coconut oil + tea tree oil.

3. Massage into your skin using clean fingertips.

4. Allow to sink in for 10-15 minutes.

5. Rinse with cool water + pat dry gently.

Use extra mask for any other area of your body.

 

Lemon + Honey (Brighten + Moisturize)

What You'll Need:

- 2 Tbsp Honey

- 1 Tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice

Directions:

1. Mix honey + lemon.

2. Apply evenly to the face.

3. Allow the mask to dry for 10 minutes.

4. Wash off with warm water + pat dry.

Can be combined with other masks to make them more powerful.

Aging Skin

Avocado + Oats (Tighten + Reduce Wrinkles)

What You'll Need: 

- Half an Avocado

- 1 Tbsp Oats

Directions:

1. Smash the avocado in a bowl and add the oats.

2. Apply the mask to your face + leave on for 10-20 minutes.

3. Rinse with warm water+ pat dry.

Can be used 2-3 times per week.

 

Banana + Rose Water (Eliminates Pigmentation)

What You'll Need:

- 1 Banana

- 1 Tsp Rose Water

Directions:

1. Smash the banana in a bowl.

2. Add rose water + mix well.

3. Apply to face + leave on for 15-30 minutes.

4. Rinse with cold water + pat dry.

 

Coffee + Cocoa + Coconut Oil (Smooths Fine Lines)

What You'll Need: 

- 1 Tbsp Coffee Grounds

- 1 Tsp Cocoa

- 1 Tsp Coconut Oil

Directions:

1. Mix coffee + cocoa powder together.

2. Slowly add coconut oil to form a paste.

3. Apply to the skin + let dry for 15-30 minutes.

4. Rinse gently with cold water + pat dry.

Sensitive Skin

Bentonite Clay + Milk (Reduce Redness + Discoloration)

What You'll Need:

- 2 Tbsp Bentonite Clay 

- 2 Tbsp Milk

Directions:

1. Mix the bentonite clay + milk.

2. Apply to the face + leave on for 10-15 minutes.

3. Remove the mask by rinsing with warm water + pat dry.

Remember to use your hand or pop sickle stick when using bentonite clay - metal utensils like spoons will deactivate it.

 

Grape + Yogurt + Oats (Exfoliate)

What You'll Need:

- 1/4 Cup Mashed Grapes

- 2 Tbsp Ground Oats

- 1/2 Cup Greek Yogurt

Directions:

1. Add ground oats to grapes + stir.

2. Mix in yogurt to create a thick paste.

3. Apply to face + leave on for 10 minutes.

4. Rinse with warm water + pat dry gently.

5. Follow with a moisturizer or night cream to retain softness.

 

Carrot + Honey (Soothe Skin + Brighten)

What You'll Need:

- 2/3 Cooked Carrot

- 1-2 Tbsp Honey

Directions:

1. Cook carrot if needed.

2. Mash the carrot in a bowl.

3. Add honey to make a smooth paste.

4. Wash face first with warm water + pat dry.

5. Apply the mask + leave on for 10-15 minutes.

6. Rinse with warm water followed by a splash of cold water.

Can be used 2-3 times per week. 

Normal Skin

Pumpkin + Banana + Almond Milk (Enhance Your Glow)

What You'll Need:

- 1/4 Cup Canned Pumpkin

- 1/2 Cup Almond Milk

- 1/4 Frozen Banana

- 1/2 Tsp Cinnamon

- Dash of Honey

Directions:

1. Place all ingredients in a blender.

2. Blend until smooth.

3. Apply to skin + let dry.

4. Rinse away with warm water.

5. Save the excess mask + use every other day until gone.

Pumpkin is packed with enzymes, minerals, vitamins + antioxidants and will add a youthful glow when you need it!

 

Coffee + Turmeric + Yogurt (Reduce Puffiness)

What You'll Need:

- 1 Tbsp Instant or Ground Coffee

- 1 Tbsp Turmeric

- 1 Tbsp Greek Yogurt

Directions:

1. Mix all ingredients together.

2. Apply all over the face, even under the eyes.

3. Leave on for 20 minutes before rinsing.

4. Rinse with warm water + pat dry.

 

Aloe + Lemon + Honey + Coffee (Exfoliate)

What You'll Need:

- 1 1/2 Tsp Aloe Vera

- 2 Tsp Fresh Lemon Juice

- 1 Tbsp Honey

- 1 Tbsp Fresh or Instant Coffee Grounds

Directions:

1. Blend the coffee + honey until a paste forms.

2. Add the lemon + aloe until everything is well combined.

3. Apply gently + leave on for 10 minutes.

4. Rinse with warm water + pat dry.
